Award-winning author Mavery Ellscott’s first serious foray into writing was not as a thriller author. It was a journalistic undertaking.

Not one to shy away from a challenge, she convinced a neighbor to help her write and publish a newspaper. A pretty big endeavor for an eight-year-old armed with a bunch of scrap paper and her dad’s old typewriter. Total circulation - two. Fortunately, her later publications fared better.

A conservationist, Mavery has won a few environmental awards. It’s no surprise she yearns to write a high-speed chase with eco-friendly cars in one of her action-packed suspense thrillers.

So, send your kids and partner to bed early, load up on snacks, put your cell phone on airplane mode, and throw extra treats in the dog’s bowl. Spend some well-deserved me time. Join Mavery on a twisty roller coaster ride with a splash of romance and humor.

PS: By the way, Mavery eventually fulfilled her dream of becoming a regular columnist. She wrote an advice column for seniors at a local newspaper. She didn't make the first page, but she had a lot of fun!

Quote by Samuel Johnson (1709-1784): A writer onnly begins a book. A reader finishes it.
